Ferrari bike on the cards?

Attempts at developing a Ferrari motorcycle have been many, but what I came across a few days back may well be the closest that anyone has gotten close to a working model or a prototype example. History books have pages that celebrate Ferrari’s motorcycling efforts. In the 1950s, Alfredo Ferrari raced specially developed motorcycles while in 1970s, performance and precision firm, Kay Engineering produced a one-off example to honour Enzo Ferrari. Then there was a chopper designed by legendary designer Arlen Ness in the 1980s. One Mr. Michael Schumacher was presented with a Scuderia Ferrari chopper at his retirement. Gradual Climb: Sport Bikes are the answer

Sport bikes have never caught the eye of a true blue but young and inexperienced motorcycle maniac. They are supposed to be the first ones to make you feel the rush on two wheels, yet manoeuvrable and a fun ride so you can toy around with enough of a masculine grunt. Enter the 250cc segment which would fill the criteria. Also, a beginner would relish such a ride and then graduate into the upper segment of the cubic capacity and bhp scale. BMW’s Superbike project on track

It was close to about eight months ago that BMW declared their intention of participating in the Superbike World Championship from next year onwards. Hence, BMW is working overtime in order to get the bikes race-track ready in order to lay rubber during the first race of WSBK 2009. The eagerly awaited superbike clocked some miles at the Eurospeedway Lausitzring recently. The German circuit featured on WSBK calendar till last year and this gave BMW a good comparison measure of lap times vis-à-vis lap times of previous year’s race weekend.
